The Bargauer Horn is a nature reserve in the area of the Baden-Württemberg city of Schwäbisch Gmünd in the Ostalb district .
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve by ordinance of the Württemberg Minister of Culture of 9 May 1939 and has a size of 25.2 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 1.009. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 81363 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
location
The protected area is located around two kilometers east of Weiler in the mountains , a district of Schwäbisch Gmünd , on a steep south-west slope. It is located in the 2,533 hectare FFH area no. 7224-342 Albtrauf Donzdorf - Heubach and is completely enclosed by the 2,887 hectare landscape protection area Kaltes Feld to Rosenstein .
The NSG Bargauer Horn lies on the border between the natural areas 096- Albuch and Härtsfeld (natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb ) and 102- Eastern Alb foreland .
Protection purpose
On the southwest slope on the White Jura Beta and Gamma there are dry forests, juniper sheep pastures and groups of bushes. The abundant plant community of the steppe heath is of particular scientific and local value. The surroundings of the abandoned Weißjura quarry with many beautiful scree plants are also particularly valuable .
