List of nature reserves in the Ostalb district

In Ostalbkreis there are 42 nature reserves, which together covers an area of 1,900 ha have. This corresponds to about 1.2% of the area of ​​the district. The Stuttgart Regional Council is responsible for the designation of nature reserves . According to the protected area statistics of the State Institute for the Environment, Measurements and Nature Conservation Baden-Württemberg (LUBW), 2,049.35 hectares of the district area are under nature protection, that is 1.36 percent.

The Tierstein near Aufhausen on the hiking trail from Kapfenburg to Bopfingen is a much-visited lookout point in the eastern Alb.
