There are 7 nature reserves in the state capital Stuttgart . The Stuttgart Regional Council is responsible for the designation of nature reserves . According to the protected area statistics of the State Institute for the Environment, Measurements and Nature Conservation Baden-Württemberg (LUBW), 1,353.19 hectares of the city area are under nature protection, that is 6.53 percent.
