Auweiher is a nature reserve designated by the Stuttgart Regional Council of May 11, 1990, with the number 1,171.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains natural area and is about 1500 meters west of Wört in the Rotach valley , a tributary of the Wörnitz . The area is part of the FFH area No. 6927-341 Rotachtal .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of a pond with large areas of shallow water and siltation as well as extensive reed areas as a habitat for rare and endangered animal and plant species.

Flora and fauna

The occurrence of the marsh plant species small water lily and tongue buttercup is remarkable . From the group of water and marsh birds must Spotted Crake , Water Rail and bittern are highlighted.
