Barkhausen is a southern town in the city of Büren (Westphalia) . The village with 128 inhabitants has a total area of ​​6.15 km² (as of December 31, 2019). The mayor is Johannes Wördehoff.

history

The village of Barkhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1024 as a “settlement in Almegau”. In the Westphalian document book 2 XX it is mentioned that a wooden church, which had previously been built by a nobleman named Sidag and was later given to the diocese of Paderborn, was rebuilt from stone between 862 and 884 at the time of Bishop Luithard .

On January 1, 1975, Barkhausen was incorporated into the city of Büren.
