Weine is a town in the city of Büren (Westphalia) in the Paderborn district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

The place is 3 km south of the old district town of Büren in the Almetal. The Alme river flows through the village .

history

On January 1, 1975, the previously independent village of Weine was incorporated into the city of Büren.

Wines was first mentioned in a document in 1015 in the Vita Meinwerci episcopi Patherbrunnensis.

Population development

Weine has around 567 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The high number of families is particularly characteristic of the place.

The community had 469 inhabitants on June 6, 1961 and 518 on May 27, 1970 - both are census dates.

Weine is connected to the network of the Paderborn-Höxter local transport network. There are buses to Büren and Brilon , from where other connecting buses leave.

The mayor of Weine is Norbert Steven ( CDU ). In addition, Weine is represented in the Bürener City Council by Marco Sudbrak ( SPD ).

particularities

Despite the small population, Weine has its own on-site kindergarten , which is located in the "old school".

The "Old School" is a kind of community center where clubs provides a space for their social life. Among other things, the rehearsal room of the choir “Frohgestimmen” and the music association Weine can be found in the premises. But there is also a youth room used by the Catholic rural youth movement.

In addition, Weine also has a shooting hall, which is managed by the shooting club .

The small village chapel was built in 1836 and the Weiner Mühle on the outskirts .

Culture

In addition to the annual shooting festival at Whitsun , the maypole is also set up, which is organized by a different club every year. On the maypole there are boards of all the local associations.
