Barranca is the capital of the province of Barranca in the north of the Lima region in western Peru . The 2017 census counted 58,749 inhabitants. In 2007 the population was 53,964. The city is located in the district of the same name . There are various industrial companies. It will u. a. Fish meal produced.

The city of Barranca is located 165 km north-northwest of the state capital Lima in the extreme north of the Lima region on the Pacific coast . The Río Pativilca flows into the sea 3.5 km northwest of the city.
