Bartholomäus Wimmer , also Bartl Wimmer (born September 9, 1960 in Salzberg , today Berchtesgaden ), is a German laboratory doctor and co-founder and executive chairman of the Synlab Group .

Live and act

Wimmer grew up in Berchtesgaden and studied human medicine in Munich and Regensburg from 1981 to 1986 . During his practical year he worked in three different hospitals in gastroenterology , oncology and trauma surgery . In 1987 he completed his studies with the 3rd state examination and his license to practice medicine . After a year abroad and two years as an assistant doctor, he received his doctorate in 1989 from the Technical University of Munich . Wimmer then worked as an assistant doctor for dialysis , internal medicine and nephrology (1990/91) and as an assistant doctor in the Dirr laboratory in Augsburg (1991–93).

In 1993 Wimmer was recognized as a specialist in laboratory medicine. He established himself as a laboratory doctor in Augsburg and initially worked as a partner of Dirr. He later became a senior partner in the “Group Practice for Laboratory Medicine” (1999) and finally medical director of the “Medical Supply Center for Laboratory Diagnostics” (2004).

In 1998, Wimmer founded Synlab in cooperation with Frey, at that time still under the name Synlab Association of Freier Laborärzte . In the following years, Synlab grew rapidly and was renamed Synlab Laboratory Services . Wimmer's laboratory in Augsburg first became the administrative center, then in 2006 the headquarters of the Synlab group.

Wimmer is also active for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party. In 1984 and 1990 he was elected to the Bischofswieser municipal council. He has been a district councilor in the Berchtesgadener Land district since 1990 and has been chairman of the audit committee there since 2008. In addition, he has been a member of the Berchtesgaden municipal council since 1996 , where he held the changing functions as parliamentary group spokesman, member of the building and main committee. In the local elections in Bavaria in 2020 , he ran for the Greens as a district administrator for the district of Berchtesgadener Land, but lost 41.27 percent in the runoff against his competitor Bernhard Kern ( CSU ).

Bartholomäus Wimmer is married and has four children.
