Bartek Nizioł

Bartek Nizioł , actually Bartłomiej Nizioł , (born February 1, 1974 in Stettin ) is a Polish violinist and currently 1st  concertmaster of the Zurich Opera Orchestra .

biography

Nizioł began his musical training at the age of five, later he studied with Jadwiga Kliszewska in Poznan and with Pierre Amoyal in Lausanne . During his studies he won several prestigious prizes at international violin competitions before he received his solo diploma with distinction at the Poznan Music Academy in 1994 .

Nizioł subsequently played at renowned music festivals, for example “ Midem ” in Cannes , “ Festival de Radio France ” or “Festival de Carcassonne”. In addition, numerous engagements as a soloist in large orchestras followed, including the Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France , the English Chamber Orchestra and the Sinfonia Varsovia .

From 1997 to 2003 Nizioł was Deputy 1st Concertmaster of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich , and since 2003 he has been 1st Concertmaster of the Zurich Opera Orchestra.

In 2000, Nizioł founded the chamber music ensemble Niziol Quartet with three other musicians from the Zurich Opera Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra . The ensemble devoted itself mainly to violin pieces by Russian composers such as Tchaikovsky and Borodin , especially during a concert tour through Russia in 2005.

Nizioł plays a Guarneri del Gesù violin from 1727. As the first violinist in the Stradivari Quartet , he also played the Stradivarius violin "Aurea" from 1715 from 2007 to 2010 .

In 2006, together with Paweł Andrzej Mazurkiewicz , Nizioł was awarded the Fryderyk , an award from the Polish Phonographic Society, for recording Grażyna Bacewicz's pieces for piano and violin.

In 2015, he and Denis Severin and Tatiana Korsunskaya were awarded the ECHO Klassik in the Chamber Music Recording of the Year category (19th century music) .
