Basant Mosaad Mohamed Hassan (born September 30, 1993 ) is an Egyptian high jumper .

Athletic career

Basant Hassan gained her first international experience in 2010 at the Arab Junior Championships in Cairo , where she won the gold medal with 1.76 m. She also qualified for the first-ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where she finished eighth with 1.70 m. The following year she won the Junior African Championships in Gaborone with a new national record of 1.81 m and reached fifth place at the African Games in Maputo with a jump of 1.75 m. She then won the silver medal behind the Moroccan Rhizlane Siba at the Arab Championships in al-Ain with 1.73 m , as well as at the following Pan-Arab Games in Doha with 1.76 m. In 2012 she finished fifth at the African Championships in Porto-Novo with 1.75 m and in 2013 she was eliminated from the qualification at the Summer Universiade in Kazan with 1.75 m.

In 2014 she won the silver medal behind Siba at the African Championships in Marrakech with 1.80 m and was eighth in the Continental Cup , which also took place in Marrakech. The following year she won the Arab Championships in Manama with 1.75 m and was ninth at the African Games in Brazzaville with a height of 1.70 m. At the 2016 African Athletics Championships in Durban , she won the bronze medal with 1.79 m behind Lissa Labiche from the Seychelles and the Nigerian Doreen Amata, and two years later she finished eleventh at the African Championships in Asaba with 1.70 m. In 2019 she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Reham Hamdi Kamal at the Arab Championships in Cairo with 1.76 m . At the end of August, she took part in the Africa Games in Rabat for the third time and finished ninth there with 1.70 m.

In 2016 and 2019, Hassan became Egyptian high jump champion.
