Bastian Schulz (born July 10, 1985 in Hanover ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Schulz started playing soccer at his local club TuS Altwarmbüchen . In 1997 he went to Hannover 96 and went through all youth teams until he was promoted to the second team in 2004. On March 15, 2008 Schulz was appointed to the professional squad for the first time by Dieter Hecking and made his Bundesliga debut against Arminia Bielefeld ; he was substituted on for Sérgio Pinto in the second half . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on November 1, 2008 against Hamburger SV . Here Schulz scored the interim 1-0 for his team in a 3-0 win over Hamburg.

In the summer of 2009 he moved to the second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He immediately had a place in the regular lineup. In December 2009 he suffered a torn cruciate ligament and then lost his regular place and was only used in the last two games of the season. At the end of the season he rose with the team as a second division champion in the 1st Bundesliga. In the subsequent 2010/11 season , Schulz only made three short appearances and less than 50 minutes.

In August 2011, his contract with FCK was terminated and Schulz moved to RB Leipzig in the regional league. He signed a two-year contract here. In his first season for Leipzig Schulz came to 20 league games and reached third place in the table with the team - thus the targeted promotion to the 3rd division was missed. In the following season 2012/13 Schulz came as a regular player to 25 appearances and scored eight goals. At the end of the season he won the championship with RB and rose to the 3rd division after two promotion games (here Schulz played both games over the full distance). In the following third division season 2013/14 , Schulz increasingly took on the role of reservist. At the beginning of the winter break, his contract, which was still running for six months, was terminated by mutual agreement.

Schulz moved directly to VfL Wolfsburg , with whose second team he played in the Regionalliga Nord . With the Wolfsburg Reserve he became regional league champion in 2016, but failed in the promotion games to the 3rd division.

For the 2016/17 season , Schulz moved to VfL Osnabrück and was given the number 8 on his shirt. On January 3, 2018, he ended his playing career; his contract with VfL Osnabrück was terminated.
