Batısandal is a village in the district of Erdemli of the Turkish province of Mersin . The place is about 12 kilometers southwest of Erdemli and 50 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Mersin . Since a regional reform in 2014, the place is no longer a village, but a district of the district town of Erdemli.

Batısandal is located in the mountainous hinterland of Limonlu , about five kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, on a road that leads from Limonlu past Öküzlü via Sömek to Cambazlı and Uzuncaburç , the ancient Olba . It is located on the site of a Roman - Byzantine settlement in Rough Cilicia . The ruins are overbuilt with modern houses, some of the buildings are built on old floor plans, with numerous spoils built into them . On the eastern edge of the village are the remains of the Byzantine church of Batısandal . The ancient ruins of Öküzlü are about three kilometers to the west. An ancient road connection ran via Batısandal from the valley of the Lamos to Şamlıgöl and Öküzlü. In the latter, remains of the ancient paving can still be seen.
