particularities |
The Bayersoiener See - colloquially Soier See or Soiener See - is a 22.5 hectare lake in the Ammergau Alps . It is located in the area of the municipality of Bad Bayersoien in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district in Upper Bavaria and is part of the landscape protection area of the Soiener See and its surroundings , which also includes the landscape that was created by its heavy silting , as well as the FFH area moraine landscape between Staffelsee and Baiersoien . With a volume of 448,000 cubic meters, the average depth is 1.99 meters. The maximum depth is 2.5 meters.
The Bayersoiener See is a moor lake that owes its formation to the retreat of the glaciers during the Würm Ice Age. However, the material required for the mud baths in the spa facilities of the Bad Bayersoien moor spa is not extracted from the lake. For this purpose, alpine mountain pine raised bog is used , which is mined at various bog holes in the Ammergau Alps.
Its location in the Pfaffenwinkel and its mild, moor-containing water, which warms up very quickly due to the shallow depth of the lake, make the Bayersoiener See a popular bathing lake. The water quality is monitored through regular measurements. The bathing area with kiosk, large sunbathing area and boat rental is located on its south bank. Sport fishermen appreciate the lake's abundant fish population and for hikers the 2.5-kilometer circular path around the lake has been expanded into a nature trail that provides information about the origins of the lake and the local flora and fauna .
