The Bayreuther Hütte is located at an altitude of 1576  m above sea level. A. above the towns of Münster and Kramsach in the Rofan Mountains in Tyrol and is owned by the Bayreuth section of the German Alpine Club . From there you have views of the Inn Valley, the Zillertal and the Alpbachtal. It is the base for hikes to the surrounding peaks and for climbing tours. In the immediate vicinity (5 minutes) of the hut there is a newly renovated climbing garden, which is also suitable for beginners ( level of difficulty 4–6).

history

In 1908 the hut was built as a private Rofan hut. On April 26, 1926, they bought the Bayreuth section of the DAV. The Rofanhütte was later renamed the Bayreuther Hütte. In 1945 the hut was confiscated as German property and placed under the trusteeship of the Austrian Alpine Club. In 1955 the hut was leased to the Bayreuth Section for care. On June 16, 1956, all properties were returned to the Bayreuth Section.

In 1995 the section decided on a regenerative energy supply for the hut. A photovoltaic system and a thermal solar system were purchased and installed. 25 square meters of modules convert solar energy into electricity, 12 accumulators store the energy. In bad weather periods, up to five days can be bridged. With this solar system a diesel saving of 90% is achieved.

The transport of goods and food was initially carried out with mules , later with carrying horses. Karetten followed , a tractor and since 1972 the tenant has been able to drive up there by car.
