The Beacon Heights are a small group of mountain peaks with a height of up to 2,345 m in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Quartermain Mountains they loom between the Beacon Valley and the Arena Valley .
It was named by the geologist Hartley T. Ferrar (1879-1932), participant of the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) under the direction of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott . It was named after the fossil-rich sandstone layers of the Beacon Supergroup found there .
