Beat Zwimpfer

Paul Beat Zwimpfer (born January 10, 1928 ; † August 21, 2013 in Winterthur ; resident in Oberkirch LU ) was a Swiss politician (CVP).

Life

Beat Zwimpfer grew up in Aarau as the third son of a dentist. He went to school in Aarau as well as at the Benedictine high school in Engelberg , which he graduated with a type A Matura . He then studied at the Universities of Zurich and Freiburg , where he received his doctorate in 1955. iur. utr. received his doctorate . From 1958 he lived in Winterthur. Zwimpfer was married and had four daughters. He died at the age of 85.

Political career

Zwimpfer was a member of the Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP). From 1962 to 1965 he was Vice President before he was elected President of the CVP of the city of Winterthur in 1966. From 1980 to 1999 he was active in various commissions of the cantonal CVP and as a delegate of the CVP Switzerland. From 1992 to 1996 he was also President of the CVP Canton of Zurich and recorded various victories with the CVP, including the election of Ernst Buschor's government councilor , winning a bourgeois majority in the government council and receiving the two CVP national council mandates .

Professional

After completing notarial, fiduciary and court internships in Zurich, Aarau and Baden, Zwimpfer worked as a clerk at the Baden District Court from 1955 to 1957. From 1958 he worked at Winterthur , initially at Winterthur-Leben , then in the Europe Department of Winterthur Insurance and from 1978 to 1991 as head of the newly founded Winterthur legal protection insurance company (later ARAG-Winterthur , now AXA-ARAG ) .
