Career
Becky Hobbs, who has stylistically moved between country, pop , rockabilly and western swing in the course of her career , released her first LP in 1974 for MCA. Becky Hobbs was produced by Brad Shapiro , who previously worked primarily with R&B and soul stars like Wilson Pickett and Millie Jackson . The album contains original compositions by Hobbs as well as songs written by Lewis Anderson. She also wrote I'll Be Your Audience with Anderson . This song was recorded a short time later by pop singers Helen Reddy (1974) and Shirley Bassey (1975). Reddy also later recorded Long Distance Love (1977) and I Can't Say Goodbye to You (1981) by Hobbs.
In the following years, artists who also recorded compositions by Hobbs included Lacy J. Dalton , Alabama ( Angels Among Us ) and Conway Twitty , who with a Hobbs composition, I Want to Know You Before We Make Love , 1987 climbed to number two on the country charts.
As a soloist, Hobbs had 15 hits on the Billboard US country charts between 1978, the year of her first hit with The More I Get the More I Want , and 1989 . Among them was the top 10 hit Let's Get Over Them Together (1983), a duet with Moe Bandy . Hobb's other top 40 hits included Hottest "Ex" in Texas (1985), Jones on the Jukebox (1988) and her latest hit Do You Feel the Same Way Too? (1989).
Hobbs is still on tour as a live artist and released new albums at irregular intervals, most recently in 2011 Nanyehi: Beloved Woman of the Cherokee . A year later, the musical Nanyehi , based on the life of Cherokee Nancy Ward , also premiered . Hobbs is a direct descendant of the "Ghighau" and acts as composer , music director and co- dramatist of the musical.
In 2015 Hobbs was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame .
