Bede Vincent Heather (born December 7, 1928 in Strathfield ) is Old Bishop of Parramatta .

Life

The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregatio de Propaganda Fide , Pietro Cardinal Fumasoni Biondi , ordained him on July 9, 1950 as a priest of the Archdiocese of Sydney .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Sydney and titular bishop of Obbi on June 30, 1979 . The Archbishop of Sydney, James Darcy Cardinal Freeman , ordained him episcopal on August 4th of the same year0 ; Co- consecrators were Thomas Francis Little , Archbishop of Melbourne Archbishopric , and Albert Kanene Obiefuna , Bishop of Awka .

On April 8, 1986 he was appointed the first bishop of the Parramatta diocese , which was established on the same date , and on May 18 of the same year he was appointed to the office. He resigned from his office on July 10, 1997.
