Beg for It is a song by the Australian rapper Iggy Azalea in collaboration with the Danish singer and the first single from the re-release Reclassified from Azalea's first album The New Classic . The song was first released on October 24, 2014 and reached number 27 on the US charts. A music video for the song was not recorded despite prior notice.

Beg for It was written by Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX and produced by The Invisible Men and The Arcade , like the successful single Fancy in the United States . Azalea performed the song for the first time at a concert in London with Charli XCX. Beg for It was released for download on October 24, 2014 in the United States and October 31, 2014 in Australia . In Europe, the song was released together with the album Reclassified on November 21, 2014, also as a download.

criticism

Beg for It received mostly positive reviews. MTV's Adam Fleischer highlighted Iggy Azalea's huge success by pairing her raps with pop verses on her past songs, adding that she may have another "smash" hit with Beg for It . Jaclyn Hendricks of the New York Post described the song as "Azalea's catchiest song yet". James Grebey from Spin praised MØ's performance and wrote that "the super memorable verse is a ray of hope amid Azalea's arrogant boasting". Idolator magazine called Beg for It "another bold, radio-friendly hip-hop / pop mush". Beg for It received light criticism for its similarity to Azalea's previous single, Fancy .

Commercial win

Beg for It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 8, 2014 at number 92. In the coming weeks, the song rose further up these charts and reached its highest position at number 27. It was the first song for the singer MØ that could be placed on the Billboard Hot 100. As of January 11, 2015, the song had sold 617,339 copies in the United States , and was awarded a gold record by the Recording Industry Association of America . On May 29, 2015, Beg for It was awarded a platinum record by the RIAA. In Australia, Beg for It reached its highest position in the first week at number 29 and was able to stay in these charts for 3 weeks. Further chart placements in other countries were not achieved.

Music video

In late October, Azalea announced that the music video for Beg for It would be directed by David LaChapelle in late November 2014 . She later corrected this date to the beginning of December 2014. At the end of December, however, Azalea announced that no music video would be recorded due to scheduling difficulties.
