Bounce was written by Azalea, Natalie Sims, Oladayo Olatunji, Reeva & Black, Speedy Jay, and Talay Riley and produced by Reeva & Black. The mixing was carried out by Anthony Kilhoffer in The Mix Spot studios in Los Angeles , the backing vocals took Ms. Dynamite . The song was released after Work as the second single from Azalea's first studio album The New Classic . In the United States , however , Work was released as the first single via Def Jam Recordings . Originally Azalea did not want to publish the song on her studio album, as in her opinion it would not fit the musical and content theme. Her label convinced her, however, so that Work is part of the deluxe version of The New Classic , as well as the Re-Release Reclassified .

Bounce is in the genre EDM , Trap and crossovers - Pop classified and includes House - and Indian influences. The song is called a party hit and is about carelessness and parties. Some critics have compared Bounce to 2 Unlimiteds No Limit .

Reviews

Bounce received mostly positive reviews from the critics. Lewis Corner gave the song 4 stars and called the song "Summer Hymn". For Kayleigh Watson of Renowned For Sound the song is “not a lyrical masterpiece”, but “it makes people dance”. Sam Lansky from Idolator describes the single as Azalea's "most commercial thing" to date and called Bounce a " Twerk anthem".

Commercial win

Bounce entered the UK singles chart at number 13 on July 20, 2013 , which is also the best ranking for this single in the UK . With an interruption, she was able to stay in these charts for four more weeks, but missed further placements in the top 20. Bounce missed a placement in the Billboard Hot 100 , but at least reached number 1 on the Billboard Bubbling Under R & B / Hip-Hop charts on June 28, 2014 . In the German-speaking countries, too, no placements were made in the official single charts.

Music video

The music video for Bounce was shot by BRTHR. The original plan included shooting the video in Los Angeles , but those involved decided to shoot the music video directly in Mumbai . The shooting took one and a half weeks with a daily working time of 16 to 18 hours. The video is based on a Bollywood film and shows a typical Hindu wedding including an Indian elephant . At YouTube , the music video has been nearly 100 million times called (as of March 2018).
