The New Classic ( English for " The New Classic ") is the debut album by the Australian rapper Iggy Azalea . It was released on April 21, 2014 on EMI Records , Island Records , Universal Music and Def Jam .

Most of the album was produced by the London trio The Invisible Men, who in collaboration with The Arcade created the instrumentals for Walk the Line , Don't Need Y'all , Fancy , Impossible Is Nothing , Goddess , Lady Patra , Fuck Love and Rolex . The Invisible Men worked with 1st Down on Beat zu Work and WoodysProduce on Just Askin ' . Further instrumentals come from the American music trio Watch The Duck ( 100 ), the Canadian producers The Messengers ( Change Your Life ), the Norwegian producer team Stargate ( Black Widow ) and the duo Reeva & Black ( Bounce ). In addition, the producers GTA and Jester each created a remix for the deluxe edition ( Fancy (GTA remix) and Bounce (Jester remix) ).

In addition to Iggy Azalea, other artists appear on five songs on the album. Its discoverer and sponsor, the American rapper TI , has a guest appearance on the song Change Your Life , and the music trio Watch The Duck can be heard at 100 . The British singer Charli XCX sings the chorus of the piece Fancy , while the Jamaican dancehall musician Mavado on the track Lady Patra is represented. The hookline of the song Black Widow is also sung by the British artist Rita Ora .

In April 2016, The New Classic was awarded a platinum record for more than one million units sold in the United States .

At the Grammy Awards in 2015 was the new classic in the category Best Rap Album nominated, but lost The Marshall Mathers LP 2 of Eminem .

On November 21, 2014 Reclassified appeared as a re-release of The New Classic . In addition to seven songs already on the first version, the album contains five new songs with We In This Bitch , Beg for It , Trouble , Iggy SZN and Heavy Crown .

Beg for It was released as a single on October 24, 2014 for download in the United States , where it reached number 27 on the charts. On February 24, 2015, the single Trouble followed , which was ranked 7th in the British charts. Reclassified itself reached position 16 on the US charts.
