Beheimsteig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Beheimsteig (also Peheimsteig or Weitraer Steig ) (Slav. "Way to Böhmen") was an important trade and traffic route in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel .

The Beheimsteig leading from Krems to Bohemia crossed the Kamp near Krumau am Kamp and merged with the Polansteig near Neupölla . In Guttenbrunn, west of Zwettl, it branched off from the Polansteig to the north and led via Rieggers , Kirchberg am Walde and Windigsteig to Waidhofen . Another branch led via Rieggers, Altweitra and Unserfrau to Gratzen and on via Sohors and Schweinitz to Netolitz , where it flowed into the Linzer Steig .

There is great disagreement among local researchers about the extension of the Beheimsteig trail network.
