Being Mario Götze - A German Football Story is a documentary series by Aljoscha Pause from 2018 for the streaming service DAZN .
Background and plot
The four-part documentary series, which has been available on the DAZN streaming service since June 9, 2018, accompanies Mario Götze , the 2014 soccer world champion , over seven months in his attempt to find his way back to his old level of performance and once again make the leap to the German World Cup squad 2018 to create. The series not only shows Götze's everyday sporting life and his fight for the World Cup ticket and his private life.

For the series, Aljoscha Pause received the “Predicate Valuable” award from the German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) in 2018 as well as a nomination for the AIPS - International Sport Media Award 2019 in the “Video - Athelete Profile” category.
In 2019 he received the award for the best German-language sports film at the 1st VDS-SportFilmFest of the Association of German Sports Journalists .
