Benjamin "Ben" Halloran (born June 14, 1992 in Cairns ) is an Australian football player . He plays for the Japanese first division club V-Varen Nagasaki and is mainly used on the right offensive wing.

Career

Halloran was born in Cairns and grew up in Brisbane . In his youth he played for the Brisbane Wolves and in the Brisbane-based Queensland Academy of Sport . In 2009 he moved to Gold Coast United , with whose youth team he won the National Youth League . Halloran's debut for the first team was in August 2010 in the A-League game against Melbourne Victory . He scored four goals in 26 games throughout the season. When Gold Coast United was dissolved in 2012, Halloran moved to Australian champions Brisbane Roar , with whom he signed a three-year contract. He scored four goals in 27 games for Brisbane.

In May 2013 Halloran signed a contract with the German second division club Fortuna Düsseldorf until 2016. On October 7, 2013, he played his first second division game with the Düsseldorf team against SpVgg Greuther Fürth . Overall, Halloran only came to three appearances in the first team in the first half of the 2013/14 season and was instead used more frequently in the Fortuna Düsseldorf regional league team . In the second half of the season he became a regular player and scored his first goal for Düsseldorf on February 10, 2014 in a 1-1 draw against TSV 1860 Munich . In the last six games of the season, he marked five more goals.

At the end of the 2014/15 season Halloran Fortuna left Düsseldorf and moved to 1. FC Heidenheim. He signed a three-year contract.

In the winter break 2017/18 he moved on to the Japanese first division club V-Varen Nagasaki .

After half a year in Japan , Halloran moved back to his homeland in Australia , to Adelaide United , where he scored 9 goals in 37 games.

National team

Halloran won the Southeast Asian Football Association's AFF U-19 Youth Championship in 2010 . For the Australian U-20 national team , he played six games in 2010 and 2011.

In November 2012, Halloran was appointed by Holger Osieck to the squad of Australia's senior team for the upcoming qualifying games for the 2013 East Asian Cup , but remained unused. On May 25, 2014, he made his senior national team debut in a friendly against South Africa as part of preparations for the World Cup. At the Football World Cup 2014 , he was used as a substitute in all three preliminary round matches of the Australians and was eliminated with the team after the group stage from the tournament.
