Bence Bogányi

Bence Bogányi (* 1976 in Vác ) is a Hungarian bassoonist and university teacher .

Life

The son of a Hungarian family of musicians, after taking bassoon lessons in Hungary, studied with László Hara in Helsinki and then at the Sibelius Academy with Jussi Särkkä. After studying with Asger Svendsen in Malmö and at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Helman Jung, he completed his studies in 2004 at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin with Klaus Thunemann in the concert exam with distinction.

From 1997 to 2002 Bogányi was principal bassoonist at the Finnish National Opera , then in the same position with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra . In 2005 he became principal bassoonist with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and since 2007 he has held the same position with the Munich Philharmonic . Since 2009 Bogányi has been professor of bassoon at the Nuremberg University of Music .

The Finnish composer Kalevi Aho wrote a bassoon concerto for him, which was premiered by Bogányi in Helsinki in 2005.

He is the brother of the pianist Gergely Bogányi .
