Benedict Alphons von Emperger

Benedict Alphons Edler von Emperger (born March 17, 1711 in Irschen , Carinthia ; † July 15, 1788 in Klagenfurt , Carinthia) was an Austrian lawyer and sovereign magistrate in Carinthia.

Life

Benedict Alphons Emperger was born as the third son of David Emperger and his wife Maria Elisabeth von Rost at the Ritscherhof in Simmerlach near Irschen. The Empergers were originally traders in Oberdrauburg who had received a letter of arms with a fiefdom article in 1661. David Emperger was the lordly caretaker of the Count Porcia there . This was his son Benedict Alphons possible law to study. In 1736 he married Johanna Klaudia von Hagenloher in Klagenfurt. This marriage resulted in 11 children. A lawyer sworn in since 1739, he took over the sovereign magistrate's office in 1745 from his predecessor Georg Wolfgang von Tschabueschnig, who died in 1740 . Because of his services, Empress Maria Theresa raised him to the nobility on October 30, 1766 . He died in Klagenfurt in 1788. His youngest son Johann Seyfried von Emperger was the last ban judge in Carinthia.
