Benedikt Hell (born February 13, 1678 in Eichstätt , † January 10, 1746 in Wiener Neustadt ) was an Austrian Cistercian and abbot .

life and work

Hell was elected abbot of the Neukloster monastery in Wiener Neustadt on May 4, 1729 . He nominally succeeded Abbot Raymund Jungwirth, who died on February 22, 1729, but since he had only been in office since October 15, 1728, Abbot Robert Lang (1707–1728) can be regarded as the actual predecessor. Hell was a member of the prelate class in the Lower Austrian provincial estates from 1734 to 1738 . He maintained good relations with Emperor Charles VI. and to Empress Maria Theresa . His successor to the abbot was Joseph Stübicher .
