On July 25, 1700, he entered the Benedictine abbey of Werden , where his uncle Coelestin von Geismar lived as a monk. The novice was given the religious name of St. Benedict . He was ordained a priest in September 1705 . In 1717 Father Benedikt came to the Helmstedt Monastery of St. Ludgeri, which was united with Werden, and in 1719 held the office of provost . On March 10, 1728 he was elected abbot of Werden and Helmstedt. In 1732 he appointed the Warburg notary and city secretary Liborius Böttrich to his advice.

He completed the baroque reconstruction of the monastery complex in Werden, which his predecessor had started. In 1732 the dairy was built and the three-wing complex was completed by the provost in 1745 . At the Bursfeld General Chapter held in Liesborn Abbey in 1751, Abbot Benedikt von Geismar was elected President of the Bursfeld Congregation and held this position of leadership until his death in 1757.

After his death in 1757, like his uncle Abbot Coelestin, who died in 1718, he was buried in the Choir of Our Lady of the abbey church.
