Benga

Benga (born November 28, 1986 in London ) is a British DJ and producer . His real name is Beni Uthman , but he also uses the nickname Beni Adejumo . Along with Skream and Hatcha , he is considered one of the pioneers of dubstep .

Career

He grew up in the London suburb of Croydon . He was often in the Big Apple Records store, where more or less the genre of dubstep developed, as big names in the scene like Artwork, Horsepower, Hatcha, Chef, Plastician and Skream came and went. Benga made his first tracks with a Playstation, but then switched to the PC program Fruity Loops . He gave these first pieces to DJ Hatcha, who built them into his sets for the Forward >> Club and thus made him better known. His influences during this time are the 2Step producers Wookie and Oris Jay. When Big Apple Records founded its own label, its first official track was also produced there. Skank came out on a 12 ″ in 2002 and a co-production with Skream called The Judgment the following year . This was followed by further publications on Planet Mu , until he released his first album Newstep in 2006 on his own label Benga Beats, which he founded in 2004. In 2007 he switched to the Tempa label , where his album Diary Of An Afro Warrior was released in March 2008 . He is currently touring with Skream and his former mentor Arthur "Artwork" Smith as Magnetic Man , which is a live act project. Her single I Need Air rose from 0 to 10 in the British singles chart in August 2010 .

On February 2, 2014, Benga announced that he would end his career as a DJ in order to start a family with his fiancée Holly-Jae Treadgold.
