Benjamin Lustgarten (born April 17, 1992 ) is an American cross-country skier .

Career

Lustgarten started in Soldier Hollow in January 2014 for the first time in the US Super Tour and came in sixth place over 15 km classic. At the U23 World Championships in 2014 in Fiemme Valley , he took 48th place in sprint, 34th place in skiathlon and 30th place over 15 km classic. In December 2014 he achieved his first podium finish in the Nor-Am Cup in Rossland with third place over 15 km classic . After finishing second in the US Supertour in West Yellowstone over 15 km classic at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he took his first victory in the US Super Tour in the 30 km mass start race in Soldier Hollow. This race was also part of the US championships. He was also able to win the following US Super Tour sprint race in Auburn . In February 2017 he ran his first races in the World Cup in Otepää , which he finished in 66th place over 15 km classic and 64th place in the sprint. At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he came in 55th place over 15 km classic. At the end of the season he finished 59th in the World Cup finals in Québec and reached fifth place in the overall ranking of the US Super Tour. In summer 2017 he started in the cross-country skiing Australia / New Zealand Cup in Snow Farm . He scored two wins and finished fourth in the overall standings . In the winter of 2017/18 he came in three times in second and once in third place in the US Super Tour and thus reached tenth place in the overall standings.

After second place in the sprint and first place over 15 km freestyle in the US Super Tour in West Yellowstone and second place over 15 km classic in Vernon at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Lustgarten achieved 42nd place in the Tour de Ski 2018 / 19 . In February 2019 he finished second in the 15 km mass start race in Minneapolis and finished 45th over 15 km classic at the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol . He finished the season in fourth place overall on the US Super Tour. In the 2019/20 season, with three first places and one third place, he achieved second place in the overall ranking of the US Super Tour.
