Benjamin Wess (born July 28, 1985 in Moers ) is a German hockey player and member of the German national team . He is the younger brother of Timo Wess .

Wess played for the national team for the first time on August 16, 2005 in a game against India as part of the Amsterdam RaboTrophy, and made his debut in the U16 team on April 13, 2001 (3-2 against Spain in Barcelona). He was a player in the Hockey Bundesliga at Crefelder HTC . With this he won the 2007 European Champion Clubs' Cup . Wess scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Atlètic Terrassa .

Since the 2007/2008 season, Wess has been playing with his brother Timo for Rot-Weiß Köln , with whom they were promoted from the second to the first Bundesliga. His first major tournament with the German national hockey team was the 2007 European Championship in Manchester, where Wess finished fourth with the German team. At the 2008 Olympic Games , he won gold with the German team. He was runner-up in the European Championship behind England in 2009 and World Championship runner-up behind Australia in India in 2010 . In February 2011 he was part of the successful team at the 2011 World Indoor Hockey Championship . In August 2011, the German team won the final against the Netherlands at the European Field Hockey Championship in Mönchengladbach. In 2012 Wess became European indoor champions with the German team.

In 2018, Wess, looking for new challenges, moved to Berlin's upper division Real von Chamisso .

Benjamin Wess completed 142 international matches, 12 of them indoors. (As of June 24, 2012)

Benjamin Wess, who graduated from high school in Moers , is studying business administration in Cologne, as is his brother Timo .
