Benny Claessens (born November 5, 1981 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian theater and film actor who also works on stages in Germany and Austria.

life and work

Benny Claessens studied at the Herman Teirlinck Studio in Antwerp and has been working as a freelance actor ever since. From 2003 he played in several productions at Het Toneelhuis in his hometown, including in Push up 1-3 by Roland Schimmelpfennig , in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and in Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen . He has been involved in a number of film and television productions. In 2006 he and Femke Heijens founded the EISBÄR group, which quickly became known in Belgium and Holland. The company performed, among other things, the pieces Always crying at the end and Collateral Damage . In 2009 he received the Amsterdam Arlecchino Award for his role in Ritter, Dene, Voss by Thomas Bernhard . In 2008 he worked with Jan Decorte and Lies Pauwels, with whom he was invited to the Zürcher Theater Spektakel , among others . In 2010 he was seen with Alain Platel's dance collective les ballet C de la B in Lisi Estaras' production “Primero-Erscht” .
