Bent Sørensen (physicist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bent Erik Sørensen (* 13. October 1941 ) is a Danish physicist and now emeritus professors of the University of Roskilde .

Live and act

After receiving his doctorate in physics in 1974, he mainly researched environmental and energy issues, especially renewable energies and the switch from fossil and nuclear technologies to a sustainable energy supply , the energy transition . As early as 1975, before Amory Lovins' groundbreaking work , he proposed in Science magazine a plan for Denmark's switch to wind and solar energy only , which could be implemented by 2050. In 1980 he became a professor at Roskilde University. He also worked at the Niels Bohr Institute , Cowi-Consult and the Roskilde Universitetscenter .

Awards

He has received numerous awards for his work. Among other things, he received the Danish Solar Prize, the European Solar Prize and in 1989 was raised to the nobility by the Danish Queen Margrethe II .
