Benthamiella Azorella is a plant type from the genus Benthamiella in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). It is endemic to Patagonia .

description

Benthamiella azorella is a Chamaephyte , the leaves of which are 1.5 to 2.5 mm long and about 0.5 mm wide and have a hairy edge. The flowers have an almost bell-shaped calyx with a length of 2 to 3 mm. It is hairy on the outside as well as on the edge. The crown is about 4 mm long, almost tubular and hairy on the outside with glandular hair. The two stamens are of the same shape and protrude beyond the crown. The stamens are hairy and start in the lower third of the corolla tube. The ovary has a visible nectarium , the stylus protrudes over the crown.

distribution

The species is widespread in Patagonia and occurs there in steppes in northwest Neuquén and in the west of Santa Cruz ( Argentina ), as well as in the province Última Esperanza ( Chile ) bordering these areas .

Systematics and botanical history

The species was first described in 1916 by Carl Johan Fredrik Skottsberg as Saccardohyton azorella . In 1948 it was incorporated into the genus Benthamiella by Alberto Soriano as Benthamiella azorella .
