Beresa has 18 locations in the economic triangle of Münster , Osnabrück and Bielefeld . This makes the company one of the largest auto trading groups in the Mercedes-Benz organization. According to its own information, Beresa employs a total of over 1000 people. The group turnover in 2018 was around 760 million euros.

history

Foundation and naming (1911–1931)

In 1911 Paul Meine and Carl Stratemann founded the company under the name "Auto-Centrale Münster Carl Stratemann & Co." One year later, namesake Stratemann left the company again, while Meine was the general agency for Benz & Cie. took over in Münsterland.

In 1924 the company got its new name by taking over the motorcycle manufacturer "BERESA-Werke". This name goes back to the founders of the BERESA-Werke, Messrs Beckmann, Renfert and Sanftenberg. In that year, the future managing director and owner, Wilhelm Burg, also joined the company.

In 1926 Beresa intensified its cooperation with the merger of Benz & Cie. Daimler-Benz AG was formed with Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft and from then on sells products under the brand name Mercedes-Benz .

In 1931 Wilhelm Burg acquired shares and became a co-owner of the company.

Expansion (1945–1988)

At the end of the Second World War in 1945, Paul Meine and Wilhelm Burg and nine employees began to rebuild the company on Albersloher Weg in Münster. Three years later, the reconstruction was completed and the work could continue in full.

1954 began the expansion of Beresa, which had become possible in the course of the increasing importance of mobility. The first branch office was opened in Nordhorn . Four years later, a company followed in Emsdetten, Westphalia . A more attractive exhibition space was also needed in Münster, which is why the company opened an exhibition hall with sales rooms on Servatiiplatz in 1959 .

When co-founder Paul Meine left the company in 1961, Wilhelm Burg became the sole owner and continued the expansion course that had been initiated. As early as 1963, he relocated the company to Meckmannweg, where a sufficiently large property was available. First, the truck workshop including the spare parts store was relocated. In 1965, another company was set up in Coesfeld , before the move of the main company in Münster to Meckmannweg was completed in 1971.

From 1977 the company operated under the name "Beresa-Automobilgesellschaft Wilhelm Burg GmbH & Co. KG".

The company's fifth location was opened in Steinfurt- Borghorst in 1987.

Due to the increasing demands of customers for different financing options, the BERESA leasing company was founded in 1988.

Expansion and merger (since 1992)

With the reunification of Germany , the demand for up-to-date mobility and related services also increased in the new federal states. Shortly after the "fall of the wall", Beresa started selling activities in public places, before the BERESA Autozentrum Anhalt GmbH was officially founded as a subsidiary for Saxony-Anhalt in 1992. In the following years car dealerships were set up in Dessau (headquarters), Bernburg and Zerbst as well as a sales office in Wittenberg .

In 1998 Beresa reacted to the introduction of the Smart Fortwo by founding the Smart-Center Münster with a base in Osnabrück.

In 2001 one of the biggest changes in the company's history took place: Beresa merged with the Mercedes-Benz partner Patberg, which had been in existence for decades with six locations in the Osnabrück region in the direct vicinity of Beresa. As a result of this merger, Beresa claims to become the second largest Mercedes-Benz partner in Europe with one of the largest contract areas. A year later, the Frintrup authorized workshop in Dülmen was also taken over.

The settlement of various logistics service providers in the vicinity of the Münster-Osnabrück Airport gave Beresa the opportunity to expand further in 2005 by opening a commercial vehicle location in Greven- Reckenfeld, not far from the airport in close proximity to customers.

In 2006 the company opened a commercial vehicle competence center in Senden - Bösensell directly on the A43 according to current Mercedes-Benz specifications. In the same year Wilhelm Burg GmbH was founded, which now appears as the personally liable partner of all companies within the group.

After various modernization measures, the company reopened in Osnabrück in January 2011. In 2012 the plant in Ibbenbüren was also modernized. In spring 2014, construction of the new main location in Münster-Loddenheide began. Daimler AG also realigned its own Mercedes-Benz sales force in 2015. After discussions with the manufacturer, Beresa has successfully concluded the negotiations. The contract partners agreed that Mercedes-Benz's own branches in Bielefeld , Gütersloh and Detmold with over 350 employees were taken over from the end of 2015. The newly acquired company with its headquarters in Bielefeld trades as "Beresa OWL GmbH & Co. KG".

In 2016 the Autozentrum Anhalt with the locations Dessau, Bernburg, Zerbst and Wittenberg was sold.
