Berit Kvæven

Berit Kvæven (born November 19, 1942 ) is a Norwegian chemist and politician of the liberal party Venstre .

education and profession

Kvæven studied at the Norwegian Technical University until 1967 with a degree in engineering. She was also awarded a Dr.-Ing. In 1975 at the Norwegian Technical University. PhD . From 1968 she worked as a researcher at SINTEF . Most recently she was chief engineer at the Central Office for Climate and Environmental Pollution, where she u. a. worked as head of the UN acid rain monitoring program.

Political and trade union activity

From 1976 to 1982 she was deputy chairwoman of the liberal party Venstre , and in 1990 she was also chairwoman of the Oslo Association of her party.

She was personal advisor (political advisor) to the Minister for State Administration and Consumer Protection Eva Kolstad in the Korvald government from 1972 to 1973. From 1997 to 2001 she was a deputy member of the Norwegian Parliament .

She was chairman of the Norwegian Association of Engineers Tekna from 1990 to 1993 and president of Norsk Kvinnesaksforening from 2004 to 2006.
