Karin Maria Bruzelius (born February 19, 1941 in Lund , Sweden ) is a Norwegian lawyer . She was a judge at the Supreme Court of Norway (1997–2011), Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (1989–1997) and Chairwoman of the Petroleum Council of Norway (1987–2004). Since 2018 she has been President of Norsk Kvinnesaksforening ; previously she held the office from 1978 to 1984. As Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, she was the first woman to hold the position of Secretary General of a Ministry in Norway, and she was then the highest ranking civil servant in Norway. She was a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague from 2004 to 2010 .
