history
Berlin Hyp's first predecessor institution, the Berliner Pfandbriefinstitut , was founded in 1868. The institute later operated as the Berlin Pfandbriefamt . In 1973 a number of public institutions were combined as an institution under public law under the name Berliner Pfandbrief-Bank :
- City of the Mark Brandenburg
- Berliner Hypothekenbankverein (city council)
- Central Prussian township
- Brandenburg Provincial Bank and Girozentrale
- Brandenburg Savings Banks and Giro Association
- Kur- und Neumärkische Knighthood Loan Fund , Märkische Landschaft, Prussian State Bank (Seehlassung)
In 1993 the legal form was changed to that of a stock corporation . Since this change, the bank has operated as Berliner Hypotheken- und Pfandbriefbank AG (abbreviated: Berlin Hyp). The state of Berlin was the sole shareholder . In 1994, a predecessor institution of today's Landesbank Berlin took over all of the shares. Today's bank was created in 1996 from the merger of Berliner Hypotheken- und Pfandbriefbank AG and Braunschweig-Hannoversche Hypothekenbank AG .
In November 2009, the Berlin Hyp Supervisory Board decided on a significant capital increase by issuing new shares in order to expand the scope for new business acquisitions and thus to expand and consolidate the market position.
In October 2013 the name was changed to Berlin Hyp AG . The bank's branding has also been completely revised and since then has been based on the appearance of the savings banks in terms of color and appearance, in order to make the integration of Berlin Hyp in the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe visible to the outside world.
As of January 1, 2015, the company's shares were transferred to LBB Holding and the commercial real estate finance business that had previously been operated jointly with Landesbank Berlin was dissolved.
Berlin Hyp is a member of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks .

Major holdings

Brand and corporate design
At the beginning of 2013, the Berlin real estate bank repositioned itself. The starting point for the rebranding / brand change was the organizational restructuring of the parent company, Landesbank Berlin (LBB). Berlin Hyp was set up as an independent real estate financier and future sister institution of Berliner Sparkasse within the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe . Factors of the realignment were the now independent market position and the expansion of the range of services as an association bank in the savings bank finance group and for real estate customers.
The slogan of Berlin Hyp is "Partnership is our foundation."
