Bernard Bartelink (born November 24, 1929 in Enschede , Netherlands , † October 19, 2014 in Haarlem ) was a Dutch organist , composer and university lecturer .

Life

Bartelink first studied organ at the Instituut voor Katholieke Kerkmuziek te Utrecht and then until his diploma in 1955 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam , among others with Albert de Klerk and Anthon van der Horst . Later until 1989 he taught organ and improvisation at this university. He also taught at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede.

Bartelink was organist of the Willibrordus organ of the St. Bavo Cathedral in Haarlem from 1971 to 1999 , and he was also the permanent organist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra until 1994. As a composer he received commissions from the city of Amsterdam and the Dutch Ministry of Culture.

His international concert tours have taken him to the United States of America , Italy , Spain , Germany and England, for example . Bartelink was a frequent jury member at improvisation competitions for organ, for example in 1969, 1976 and 1981 at the International Organ Improvisation Competition in Haarlem and in 2005 at the International Competition for Organ Improvisation of the European Church Music Festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd .
