Bernard Piotr Wojciechowski (born August 18, 1958 in Łowicz ) is a former Polish politician and was a member of the European Parliament in the 6th electoral term (2005-2009).

In 1980, Bernard Wojciechowski completed his state studies in shorthand and foreign languages in Warsaw and obtained a diploma in English from the University of Cambridge . He then began studying English philology at the Institute for Modern Languages ​​at the University of Warsaw , which he completed in 1985 with a dissertation in the field of theoretical linguistics (comparative and generative phonology ) entitled Selected phonological problems of accent variations in British English under the direction of Jerzy Rubach graduated.

Professional background

After graduating, he first worked as a translator and teacher for English and Polish. In the early 1990s he went to the United States of America and worked for various companies there. After returning to Poland in the late 1990s, he continued to work as a translator and teacher. Since June 1, 1999, he has been a sworn translator at the District Court in Warsaw in the field of criminal law and European law .

Political career

From 2002 to 2005 Wojciechowski was a member of the district council for the League Polskich Rodzin in Wawer , a district of Warsaw.

In the 2004 European elections , he entered constituency No. 4 on the list of the League Polskich Rodzin on list position 9. With 3,859 votes, he reached second place on the list, but well behind Wojciech Wierzejski with 46,198 votes, who won an EU mandate. In 2005 Wierzejski was elected to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and renounced his seat in the European Parliament ; Wojciechowski moved up for him on October 26, 2005. There he belonged, with an interruption from December 15, 2005 to March 28, 2007, to the Independence / Democracy (Ind / Dem) parliamentary group and was also a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee from May 16 to July 19, 2007 and from January 30, 2008 to July 13, 2009). During the electoral term he was a member of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO) and the Delegation for Relations with Belarus (D-BY).

In 2007 Wojciechowski resigned from the League Polskich Rodzin. In the 2009 European elections , he did not run again for a seat in the European Parliament and to this day he has not applied for a political office in Poland again.

Private life

Bernard Wojciechowski is married and has two children.
