Bernd Hamer (born June 15, 1939 in Mettmann , † September 25, 2004 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) was a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After training as a business graduate and passing the first and second state exams, his professional career took him to Hesse. In 1971 he received his doctorate from the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg on the subject of political elite formation in the democratic parties of the Federal Republic of Germany .

From 1968 to 1973 he practiced as a lawyer in Bad Homburg. From 1973, Bernd Hamer was Professor of Law in the Economics Department at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences .

Hamer was married and had three children.

Hamer was a member of the CDU and was chairman and then honorary chairman of the CDU in Bad Homburg from 1974 to 1995.

In terms of local politics, Hamer was active as a city councilor and a member of the city council of Bad Homburg - until his death - as well as a member of the association convention of the surrounding area of ​​Frankfurt .

From 1983 to 2003, Hamer was directly elected member of the Hessian state parliament ( constituency 23: Hochtaunus I ). Hamer worked in various parliamentary committees, in particular as chairman of the legal committee of the Hessian state parliament from 1995 to 1999 and as chairman of the interior committee from 1999 to 2003. His successor in the state parliament was Holger Bellino .

Hamer consistently represented his value-conservative convictions and was considered one of the representatives of the conservative wing of the Union.
