Bernd Jürgen Fischer

Bernd Jürgen Fischer (English spelling: Bernd Jurgen Fischer ; born January 27, 1952 in Bünde ) is an American historian and albanologist .

Fischer received his Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Barbara . He taught at the Universities of Hartford and McGill in Montreal . He was a history professor at Indiana University, Fort Wayne .

Fischer wrote numerous works on the history of Albania , including on King Ahmet Zogu and the development of Albania during the interwar period as well as on Albania in World War II and the collaboration with the fascist states that occupied the country . In 2006 he was elected to the Albanian Academy of Sciences . He is director of the Fort Wayne International Affairs Forum at the university of the same name.
