Bernd Klein , pseudonym Leonard Coldwell (born January 28, 1958 in Germany ), is a German- American businessman, author, alleged faith healer , impostor and conspiracy theorist .

Life

Klein claims that due to an extraordinary gift, he healed his cancerous mother at a young age .

According to the judgment of the Bielefeld Regional Court , Coldwell is only Bernd Klein's stage name. According to his own information, he had legally changed his name to Fauquier County (USA) in 1998 . His second wife is called Tina Marie Coldwell.

In Germany, Klein was active as a shareholder and supervisory board member of "Effectiv Systems AG". He claims to be the founder of an American Cancer Patient Advocate Foundation and an American Anti-Cancer Institute. Together with entrepreneur Peter Wink, he developed the controversial treatment method Instinct Based Medicine System (IBMS, instinct-based medicine), which he sells as a paid subscription.

In 2009, Klein founded his own church in the USA, the Church Of Inner Healing LLC . This was later dissolved. The establishment of a church in the USA is accompanied by a tax exemption (pseudo-church). In addition, “pseudo-medical acts” can be officially designated as ceremonial acts.

Treatment methods

With his method known as the Instinct Based Medicine System , Klein treats people all over the world. By 2015, he is said to have had a healing success rate of 92.3 percent when treating over 35,000 cancer patients, according to the advertisement for one of his events in Germany. There is no reliable evidence to support these claims.

Klein also promotes the Miracle Mineral Supplement (MMS), a drug that is supposed to cure cancer, AIDS , Alzheimer's or tuberculosis . It was first promoted for these uses by Jim Humble . Before use, the contents of two bottles must be mixed, creating chlorine dioxide (also used as a textile bleach). The chemicals are corrosive, which can lead to vomiting and severe kidney dysfunction. At the end of February 2015, the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices classified two MMS products as subject to authorization and as questionable and warned against taking them.

Qualifications

Klein cannot transparently prove his alleged qualifications. He claims the academic degree "Doctor" and the official title "Professor" for himself and claims to have academic degrees. Among other things, he claimed in his writings that he had a degree in psychology and many years of therapeutic work in reputable clinics. Klein cannot prove a completed medical degree or a license to practice medicine. His ability to practice medicine has also not been proven. The Hessische / Niedersächsische Allgemeine writes that Klein was “not a doctor and not qualified in medicine”. The German Consumer Association warned the organizers of the Spirit of Health fair because they advertised the participation of people with false doctoral degrees, including Bernd Klein.

Reich Citizens Movement and the Media

Klein represents theories of the conspiracy-theoretical and partly right-wing extremist Reich Citizens Movement . He advised Facebook to acquire citizenship of the “Kingdom of Bavaria or Saxony, etc.”.
