Bernd Müller-Röber

Bernd Müller-Röber (born March 22, 1964 in Coburg ) is a German molecular biologist who works in the field of plant genetics.

career

Müller-Röber studied biology and philosophy in Tübingen and Marburg and obtained his diploma at the University of Marburg in 1989. He then moved to the Free University of Berlin , where he received his doctorate in the field of plant molecular biology in 1992.

He has worked at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology and Professor for Molecular Biology at the University of Potsdam in Golm since 2000 . His main research interests include plant genome research as well as growth processes and gene regulation in plants. Müller-Röber is an expert on safety issues in (green) genetic engineering and was Deputy Chairman of the Federal Government's Bioeconomy Council . He is also the spokesman for the genetic engineering report working group of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) .

At the beginning of 2011 he was included in the list of the 100 most important Germans by Focus magazine . In November 2014 he was elected President of the Association of Biology, Biosciences and Biomedicine in Germany (VBIO).
