Bernd Müller (politician)

Bernd Müller (born September 25, 1953 in Gießen ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and was Mayor of Mühlheim am Main from July 1, 1999 to June 30, 2011 .

Life

Müller graduated from high school in 1974 . After doing his military service in 1975, he studied law and sociology in Giessen from 1976 to 1982 . From 1982 to 1983 he was trainee lawyer at the regional court in Giessen . From 1984 to 1986 he worked in the legal department of PSA Bank Neu-Isenburg as an assistant to the management. After his admission to the bar, Müller opened his own law firm in Mühlheim am Main in 1986 and worked as a lawyer until 1999 .

In May 1999 he was elected mayor of the city of Mühlheim am Main in a runoff election. He was able to prevail against his SPD opponent with 54.1% to 45.9% . In March 2005, Müller was elected for a second term with 51.2%. In the mayoral elections in January 2011, however, he was defeated by Daniel Tybussek (SPD) with 40.8% to 59.2%. After the end of his tenure, Müller returned to practice as a lawyer. In the local elections in Hesse in 2011 , he ran for a seat in the district council of the Offenbach district .

Müller is married and has a daughter. His daughter also ran for the CDU in the 2011 Hessian municipal elections.
