Bernd Rudolph

Bernd Rudolph (born April 12, 1944 in Bad Hall ) is a German university professor for capital market research and financing.

Career

After an apprenticeship in a bank and studying economics at the universities in Bonn and Munich , Bernd Rudolph completed his doctorate and habilitation in Bonn . He received his first professorship in 1979 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . After numerous appointments at universities in Germany and Switzerland, he followed the call to the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1993 , where he headed the Institute for Capital Market Research and Financing until 2011. From 1992 to 1999 Rudolph also worked in the management of the Center for Financial Studies in Frankfurt. From 1996 to 2004 he was a member and from 1999 to 2004 spokesman of the DFG expert group for business administration at the German Research Foundation DFG. Rudolph was the treasurer of the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration. V. as well as deputy chairman of the Verein für Socialpolitik. Rudolph was the managing editor of the magazine “ Kredit und Kapital” for many years and is co-editor of the magazine for the entire credit industry .

Central topics of his academic research are the optimal design of institutional framework conditions of the capital markets, banks and stock exchanges as well as the economic efficiency of the design of financial instruments. Since the beginning of the international financial crisis, he has published numerous specialist articles on the new structure of bank regulation.

In addition to his academic work, Rudolph has a wide range of practical connections and was active on the supervisory boards of investment companies, investment committees and various advisory boards. Since 2014 he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Bayerische Landesbank in Munich. Since 2004 he has been chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Institute for Banking and Financial History IbF in Frankfurt am Main, since 2005 chairman of the scientific advisory board of Deutsches Aktieninstitut and since 2008 scientific advisory board of the German Derivatives Association . Rudolph was head of the working group "Strategy Development and Controlling in Banks" of the Schmalenbach Society eV He is also chairman of the board of the Munich Finance Forum eV and member of the scientific advisory boards of the Association of Independent Asset Managers Germany eV , the German Derivatives Association and the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management Regulation FIRM.

Bernd Rudolph is married and has three children.
