Bernhard Pfister (lawyer)

Bernhard Pfister (born July 17, 1934 in Würzburg ; † May 4, 2019 in Bayreuth ) was a German lawyer and university professor specializing in sports law.

Career

After studying law in Würzburg and Bonn with subsequent studies abroad and teaching activities in Luxembourg, Madrid, Strasbourg, Pavia and Ann Arbor / USA, Pfister completed his habilitation in 1973 in Munich with Werner Lorenz . His first position as a professor was Konstanz. In 1981 he followed a call to Bayreuth to the chair of civil law, where a new discipline for sports law was created in the winter semester of the same year , which was particularly close to his heart.

At the University of Bayreuth, Bernhard Pfister shaped the civil law and sports law sciences through “decisive dogmatic basic work”.

Music etc.

In addition to his legal activities, Bernhard Pfister cultivated music. He recorded and cataloged 600 hours of music alone, most of which were historical recordings. He sang in the choir of the Bayreuth City Church and in the concert choir of the Bayreuth University for Protestant Church Music .

He was also enthusiastic about sporting activities, including chess.

Among other things, as co-editor of the magazine Spurt , he worked intensively until shortly before his death.
