Bernhard Sieber (* 6. August 1990 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lightweight - rowers . Together with his younger brother Paul Sieber (* 1993) he was the 2013 university winner in the lightweight double scull .

Career

Bernhard Sieber started rowing in 2003. In 2007 he took part in the four-four at the Junior World Championships and finished in 13th place. In 2008 he finished eleventh in the single . In 2009 Sieber took part in the world championships in the adult class with the lightweight eighth and finished in 8th place. In the same year he was seventh in the lightweight four without a helmsman at the European Championships . In 2011 he finished fourth in the lightweight double sculls at the U23 World Championships with Alexander Chernikov .

Bernhard Sieber has been training a lightweight double scull with his brother since 2012. In 2012 the two rowed in the qualifying regatta for the Olympic Games and finished fifth; only the first two boats were allowed to start in London. The brothers won the title at the U23 World Championships in 2012 in Trakai , Lithuania . Paul and Bernhard Sieber also reached the finals at the 2012 European Championships after the Olympic Games, finishing fourth. In 2012 and 2013 the Sieber brothers were Austrian champions in double sculls. In 2013 the two finished fifth at the European Championships . In July, the two won the Universiade in Kazan . At the world championships at the end of the season they reached ninth place.

In 2014, Paul and Bernhard Sieber took twelfth place at both the European and World Championships . The following year came eleventh place at the European championships and ninth place at the world championships , whereby the world championship placement meant direct Olympic qualification for 2016 . After they qualified for the semi-finals through the hope round, they failed there to make it to the final.

Private

Since 2013 he was in a relationship with the snowboarder Julia Dujmovits (* 1987), the two got engaged in April 2015 and announced their separation in January 2018.
