Bernhard Wessel (architect)
Bernhard Wessel (* 1904 in Bremen ; † 1976 in Bremen) was a German architect .
biography
Wessel completed an apprenticeship in an architecture office in Bremen and then attended the Bremen State School of Applied Arts and the Oldenburg Polytechnic . Before and after his studies, he worked in various architecture offices, including Rudolf Jacobs in Bremen, from 1924 . In the Second World War he was conscripted for service at banks and associations. After 1945 he worked in an architecture office and was self-employed from 1948. He planned numerous residential buildings in the Stephaniviertel , was involved in the renovation in Schnoor , designed, among other things, House C for the Bremen Chamber of Commerce , the Jonas and Kaune House on Bremen's market square , the nautical school and other schools, industrial buildings and an extension to the St. Joseph Hospital Pen . The town hall of Emden was also an important part of the planning . Many of his buildings have facades in red brick masonry .

- 1959 to 1962: City Hall Am Delft in Emden (new building on the site of the old, war-torn city hall, later used as a museum)
- 1965: Propstei St. Johannis , several two-storey red stone-faced houses
- 1968: Reconstruction of the St. Johann im Schnoor daycare center in Bremen
- 1973 Construction of the community center of the St. Antonius community, Bremen-Osterholz
- 1975 Exterior and interior redesign of St. Antonius Church, Bremen-Osterholz
