Bert Wijbenga

Bert Wijbenga-van Nieuwenhuizen (born Wijbenga; born February 7, 1964 in Haarlem ) is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD).

Life

Wijbenga studied at the Dutch Police Academy in Apeldoorn , political science at the Free University of Amsterdam , public administration at the University of Utrecht and at various European police academies .

In 1986 he became a police officer . He worked in various units, such as the criminal police , the mobile unit , as police chief of the municipality of Leiden , as director of the police at the State Police Corps ( Korps Landelijke Politiediensten ) and as head of operational affairs in Amsterdam . In 2006 he finally became police chief ( hoofdcommissaris ) and corps chief of the province of Flevoland .

He left the police force in 2011 to become chairman of the board of the Woonbron Rotterdam housing company .

Wijbenga resigned after the on July 5, 2018 Assistant Secretary ( Wethouder ) and the first deputy mayor ( locoburgemeester ) of the municipality of Rotterdam was chosen with the division Enforcement, living environment, integration and society .

Private

Bert Wijbenga (-van Nieuwenhuizen) has four children and is married to Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (-Wijbenga) .
